Interest Groups

A variety of interest groups offer women in our community unique opportunities for friendship, sharing and learning. And if you have a group you would like to start, we welcome that!

All Interest Groups welcome new members anytime throughout the year. The only requirement for joining an interest group is paid membership in The University Women’s Club of Toronto.

Send an email to info@uwctoronto.ca if you’d like to join one of our interest groups!

BOOK GROUPS

The Morning Book Group meets the first Thursday of the month at 10:30 am. The title of the book to be discussed will be available in the monthly newsletter as well as at the group’s meetings.
Convenor: Carmie D.

The Evening Book Group meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 5:00 pm.

Convenor: Judith L.

The New Book Group meets on Monday evenings, sometimes including dinner or wine and cheese.  Our selections are often from the Heliconian Literary Series as some members belong to that group but it isn’t necessary.  We hope to widen our horizons as our experience increases.  Members are most welcome.

Convenors: Jane H. and Susan F.

BRIDGE

We are back playing bridge in person at The Faculty Club - Tuesdays at 10:00 am.  We will play until approximately 12:30 pm.  This is a friendly, intermediate level group.  There is a nominal charge for coffee/tea/cookie as well as a $2 contribution to our “pot” which pays for prizes (top player gets a free play next time) and other bridge incidentals.  We encourage members to stay on for a casual lunch at The Faculty Club afterwards.

Convenor: Marianne A.

We welcome new members.

Please contact info@uwctoronto.ca if you would like to join the fun.

Mahjong

Mah Jongg meets in the Faculty Club Pub on Wednesdays at 4:30. Everyone is welcome, both first time players and experienced players.

current ISSUES

Current issues discussions have been at the heart of many robust UWC conversations over the years. The group is now meeting in the evenings; on Zoom in the winter on Zoom, and in-person at The Faculty Club Pub once a month in the spring, summer and fall.

We discuss issues currently making news in our city, country and internationally.  Topics are identified closer to the meeting date. If members have topics of personal or professional interest, please let the convenors know.

If you are interested in participating in discussions, please send an email to info@uwctoronto.ca  .
