Hi Susan!

It completely slipped my mind to send this email during the holiday rush in December. I apologize for that!

I am attaching some pictures from my time filming with CBC's The Trickster that was shot from late August to early November. The show is a mini series based off the "Son of a Trickster" series written by the Haisla-Heiltsuk author Eden Robison. Her "Trickster" series has been nominated for numerous awards and is one that appears in various classrooms as a tool to educate youth on hardship in indigenous communities. The show is directed by Algonquin-Metis filmmaker Michelle Latimer who is well known for her acting, filmmaking, directing, and activism. The show will be available to watch in 2020 on CBC.

I play the role of Sarah in the show- a punky, outspoken indigenous activist that is wise well beyond her years. She is constantly fighting for the rights of her people, the protection of water and land, and making sure everyone knows it. I had so much fun playing this role! It is deeply connected to who I am- as a fighter for Inuit rights and protection- so it felt natural to my being to play this role.

I have attached a few pictures: one from my birthday celebration where the cast and crew brought me cakes, cards, and a pair of shoes as a birthday gift, and one from shooting in Kitimat, BC with the main character Jared (Joel Oulette).

I hope you are all able to catch the show in September! I am looking forward to how Canada receives a show based on a book written by an Indigenous author.

I look forward to hearing from you in the New Year! I hope you have had a safe and happy holiday.

Best wishes,

Anna Lambe

Hi Christine,

It was a great pleasure to be at the Congratulatory reception at The Faculty Club and to meet each one of you personally. Thank you for your confidence in me. It is indeed an honour for me to be nominated and be the awardee on behalf of Central Toronto Academy (CTA). CTA has given me wonderful tools and immense support for my next academic steps and along with UWC’s scholarship. I look forward to continue towards my undergraduate achievements at York University (Glendon Campus).
Thanks again,
Have a great summer,

Hello Christine,
I'd like to thank you and the entire committee for choosing me as one of the recipients for this award. It will help me very much in the near future for my post-secondary education. Recently, I've chosen my courses for the fall term, and I've never been more excited about school! With that being said, I also apologize in advance if I have many questions about school since I am the first person in my family to leave Toronto. I hope to keep in touch with you and will update you on my journey at Waterloo!
Thank you once again,
- Lisa Yu

Hi Chris

Thank you very much!
The Mary McDonald scholarship will help support me this year by covering most of the funds I will be paying for my studies at Trent University while working towards a major in Social Work. This scholarship provides me with a major relief, it has given me even more hope in fulfilling my dreams for the future.

Hi Chris,

The University Women’s Club of Toronto Scholarship will help pay for my tuition and associated costs for my upcoming academic year in the Life Sciences program at the University of Toronto. This will allow me to focus less on working and more on my education, joining clubs and sports teams and becoming a part of both the academic and extracurricular community. This summer, I have been able to work less and focus more on recovering from my concussion, something I would not have been able to do if it were not for this scholarship.

Once again, I would like to thank you for choosing me as one of the recipients!
Warm regards,
- Smia Baig

Hi Jane,

Thank you for your email. Ever since I finished school I’ve been trying to do as much as I can with my freedom before I head back to school.

I have been dreaming of attending Dalhousie for the past four years and I am extremely proud of getting accepted into this university; it has been my dream school for so long. While there, I plan on taking International Development and Italian. As well, I will be taking Political Science, Classics, where I learn about Greek mythology and monsters and history.

I have volunteered at the local soup kitchen and thrift store in Iqaluit. I have also volunteered at two Arctic Winter Games and organized a student walkout for the environment with a couple of my friends. As well, I have gone on multiple leadership trips to the south where I learned how to properly use my voice, help others use theirs, and teamwork.

As for my academic strengths, I learned to work hard and keep my grades up. I learned how to manage my time wisely, how to discipline myself when it comes to setting a schedule and sticking to it, and most importantly, how to focus on school and prioritize it.

I come from a huge family, but my support comes from my mother. She, as well as my uncle, have been my role models my entire life. They showed me that in order to succeed, one must work for it, and that it does not come easy.

In the long term, I see myself either working in law, politics or business. I have only ever imagined myself working in one of those three careers. I have family members from both sides of the family in politics, and so naturally, I have a passion in that field. Law and business are interesting careers, and I can’t wait to explore my options.

Thank you!
